Automated labelling of BOPP film
A robotized technological system based on the KUKA KR60 L30-3 industrial robot for automating the labelling process and monitoring the geometrical parameters of biaxially oriented polypropylene (BOPP) film rolls. The system is optionally complemented by a product quality control system.
Year of initiation: 2020
Stage: 1st implementation
Sum required: 50 million rubles to scale the complex
Tags: industrial robotics

BOPP film is the most popular material today used for modern flexible packaging designed for further printing and lamination. Through its barrier, optical, physical and mechanical properties, as well as high heat resistance, flexibility, strength and recyclability, PP film is widely used for the packing of goods in the food, perfumery, tobacco, pulp and paper, and light industry. The global demand for BOPP is growing following the growth of world consumption of food products and other segments requiring innovative packaging solutions.

The introduction of a robotic complex allows you to provide:
1. Reduction of personnel costs:
  • reduction of non-core low-skilled personnel;
  • working 24/7.
2. Consistently high quality and uniformity of marking, preserving the roll marking after removing the top layer of film by applying the marking inside the sleeve.
3. Reducing the product misgrading due to:
  • verification of the measured roll width with the value from the cutting task;
  • verification of the roll mass taking into account the weight of the transportation beds;
  • exclusion of manual marking errors.
4. Measurement of the roll diameter.
5. Reduction of reject:
  • control of the winding density due to the optional use of specialized sensors (option);
  • detection of typical winding defects (lenses, sags, scratches, etc.) due to the optional use of advanced system of technical vision (option).
